Recruitment Tips for Fall 2018

Be honest when writing the job description.
The job description can be the first glance into the position the prospective job candidate gets. There is no reason to leave major duties out because you think if you list them that fewer candidates will be attracted to the listing. Being honest about what this job truly entails will help you attract the right employee and can save you from having to hire someone else in six months because the person you hired is learning that this job isn't for them because they didn't really know what they were getting into in the first place.

Make applying easy.
Don't require your job candidates to fill out several pages of information before they can submit their resume to you. You want to attract applicants and overwhelming them with questions can scare them off.

Scan the job candidate's social media.
Avoid recruiting the wrong person by taking a look at their social media channels for anything that is inappropriate. For example, you can scan for any illegal activity they may have been tagged in such as drugs for example.

Let the candidate know when you plan to make the decision on who you choose to hire.
This way they know what to expect and may apply for fewer jobs at other companies in the meantime.

Ask your employees for referrals.
Who knows how your company works better than your employees do. They may have the perfect person in mind for the open position. You may have better luck hiring someone your trusted employees knows rather than a stranger you don't know as much about.

Recruit the Best with Kmet Consulting

Writing a standout job description is an essential step toward attracting top talent for your business. This snapshot is critical because it can be the first glance into what the job is really like for the candidate. Not only does it detail the skills and competencies needed to perform the job, but it also defines where the job fits within the overall company hierarchy. It is used as the basis for the employment contract and is a valuable performance management tool. A job description also serves as the go-to document attorneys and doctors access when developing work restrictions, employee (ADA) accommodations and for workers’ compensation issues. After we work with you to obtain a clear understanding of the job duties and responsibilities, we write a job description that attracts qualified candidates. It's that simple.
