5 Surprising Questions You May Get Asked in a Job Interview

1. What would be your TOP priorities if you were the CEO of this company?
Think about why a company may want to ask this question.

a.) They likely want to see if you can think on your feet.
b.) They may want to see if you have any interest in becoming a leader one day and growing your career with them.
c.) They could just want to know what kind of thinker you are in regards to leadership.

Just be honest and stay calm. Don't let your nerves get the best of you when asked surprising questions such as this.

2. If another company offered you twice the salary we are offering, what would you do?
You may be thinking surely a company would never ask me this - that's why this blog is titled 5 SURPRISING questions you may get asked in a job interview. The hiring manager likely wants to get a feel for your passion. Some people will want to continue to do a certain job, simply because they love it, not because of the money they make. If asked this, your hiring manager likely wants someone passionate about the work they are interviewing to do and not someone who is just looking for another paycheck.

3. Flying or being invisible - which would you prefer as a superpower?
We get it, this probably sounds like a weird question, but think about it. Flying could be a concept for being active in a business and being invisible could be a concept for hiding behind the sidelines and not really trying to make an impact. Which would you prefer?

4. What animal is your spirit animal?
This question may sound weird, but just be as detailed as possible with your answer. The hiring manager likely just wants to get a feel for your personality, so they can gauge whether or not your personality would blend well with the others who are currently on the team.

5. Someone gives you $50,000 and says, "Go start an AWESOME business." What type of business do you start?
Really show your ambition when answering this question. Let the hiring manager know you are outgoing and a real leader and can think on your feet! You got this!

We get it. Interviews can be intimidating and you don't ever really know what someone is going to ask for sure until you get there.
