Job Seeking 101: How To Know When To Say "Yes" or "No" To a Job Offer

Know if this job is going to offer health insurance or not.
Health insurance can be extremely costly if you end up having to pay it on your own, especially if you have children to support. Having a job that offers health insurance and at least pays for some it can really be a huge help and a big benefit worth considering.

Know what the full salary will be and figure out if it's enough to live on.
Everyone has bills, we're all human beings and that's just a part of life. You need to look at whether or not the salary this job would pay will cover you and your family. A fun job is one thing, but is it really worth saying yes to if you can't afford to pay your bills while having it?

Determine what's important to you in a job and write it all down.
Make a list of what's important to you and hold on to that list and check it several times throughout your job search. This can help keep you on track and help you remember what's important to you.

Consider the job duties & whether or not you feel like you'll be challenged enough & happy doing them.
Pay close attention to that job description and analyze the duties. Ask questions about them. Get a clear idea of what this position actually does before you say "yes" or "no" to a job offer. It's not a good idea to say yes if you're not going to be happy doing these tasks.

Know how far the commute will be to this job.
A great job is one thing, but having to drive hours to get to it may make you reconsider saying "yes" to an offer. Consider the time of day you would be driving to work each day and the traffic that typically occurs during that time in your city. It can make a huge difference.

Ask what the culture is like before you say "yes" to an offer.
Job culture is important. Is this company involved in the community? What is the office like day to day? Get a feel for whether or not you'd fit in at a place like this.

Have an idea about the company and if they promote from within.
Being with a company that you know you can grow professionally with and advance your way to higher positions can be really motivating. You should ask if there are opportunities for career advancement when interviewing.

We here at Kmet Consulting hope you found these tips enlightening and helpful. We wish you the best of luck in your job search and have full confidence in you!
